Monday 11/17/2025, the Village Board approved the operating budget with a property tax levy of $4,011,387. This amount follows months of Finance Committee meetings, and, Finance Committee Chair/Trustee Denise Bhirdo’s work with staff and the committee to slash expenditures in an attempt to not increase the mill rate. Based on current levy estimates, the proposed mill rate for the village expenses alone, would be $4.86 per $1,000 of value, which is an estimated $0.37 per $1000 reduction from last year. (It should be noted though, external taxes, such as school district, technical college and county taxes, may result in a higher tax bill than the previous year.) The estimated village levy is broken down as $2,007,523 budgeted for general fund purposes, $790,000 towards the village’s debt, and $593,143.51 towards the tax increment financing districts and their improvements.
