Senior Advocates for Independent Living (SAIL) is a group of volunteers who believe in ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ to help those over age 55 age in place by staying active and independent thereby allowing them to live in their home longer. They follow the ‘village concept’, a nationally recognized program, of partnering people with resources. Examples of resources are, volunteers to help with errands, holiday activities, home repairs and socialization. AARP has a short article that summarizes the village concept. SAIL is in the process of developing a website and it will be linked directly to this site once it has been established.  Do Good Door County, who serves as the facilitator, has been assisting SAIL in their development. Do Good Door County is dedicated to building a dynamic, collaborative community for our seniors.  Their website provides additional information about SAIL. A one page flyer also provides more information about the effort as well as a short video. If you would like to volunteer to help your aging neighbors, contact Margaret Connar, the Board President, by emailing [email protected]
